bio_imageI love to write. That is me in a nutshell. My credits include national magazines, local papers, E-zines and blogs. Topics have ranged from reporting on-assignment about local businesses to national trends in the writing market. I can speak as readily on overcoming challenges by faith as I can about reaching a target market through platform development.

Not only do I write but I speak regularly to Writers groups & Business Owners as well as individuals.

The Writing Career Coach Program was born out of my desire to provide affordable options to aspiring writers.

That is Tiffany Colter, the professional, in a nutshell. You can reach me through the contact page. If you are curious about me as a person, keep reading.

I have a degree in Political Science from the University of Toledo where I graduated Summa cum Laude from the Honors College. I am fluent in three languages [and want to learn 3 more before I die], write suspense-thrillers and read business books as readily as I do a novel.

As a writer I write on a variety of topics for magazines, papers and e-zines. One thing that makes me unique is that while I write mostly non-fiction, I have focused on being a fiction writer. The key to excellent craft in Fiction also creates a compelling non-fiction article. All writing must transport the reader to a different place and time. I do that with my articles for clients, as well as in my fiction.

I have been published locally and nationally. My publishing credits include Charisma Magazines, Suspense Magazine, Today’s Christian, Encounter, On Mission and The Toledo Business Journal. Online I have a successful blog that teaches business principles to writers the Writing Career Coach and I write a monthly Marketing Column and a quarterly Feature for the Afictionado E-zine. Suspense Magazine [http://www.suspensemagazine.com] regularly publishes my work in their “Ask Your Writing Career Coach” column.

I teach on topics as diverse as Writing for Small Business Owners to Special Needs Adoption to Thriving during Financial Crisis. My speaking is managed through Command Performance Speakers’ Bureau. You can download a pdf of my Speaker sheet here

As a Writing Career Coach I mentor aspiring writers in the basics of platform development, marketing and craft BEFORE the first book contract. As the competition grows stiffer, the only thing separating many authors from publication is a potential market who already KNOWS the author. My blog is full of free information as well as a coaching program for those who want one-on-one coaching.

My Family
Family is important to many people, my family is no exception. My other website, TheBalancedLife.com, was born out of our financial struggles when my husband was suddenly diagnoses with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma eight weeks after his 29th birthday. We had four children, one of whom was a special needs child we’d adopted six months prior. We suddenly had to face being incomeless, and my kids the possibility of being fatherless. Chris recovered and our family survived. How we survived financially is the basis of that website.

Personal

When I’m not a Writer. Speaker. Wife. Mom. Writing Career Coach. I am simply Tiff. I enjoy spending the summers outside with my family. We watch the ducks and chickens scamper around our yard and fight with the cats for cat food.

It is a far cry from my college dream of working in international relations, but it is far more relaxing.

I still enjoy reading. I am fluent in French and American Sign Language and love comedies. I am grateful for all I have, likely because we came so close to losing it all.

I’m simply the mom in the pony-tail and jeans running her girls to ballet. I’m unrecognizable in a crowd but fulfilling my childhood dream of writing stories.

Thanks for coming and I hope you’ll be a regular visitor to our site,
